5 Ways to Enjoy London for Less

So you are thinking of visiting London, but something´s putting you off. No, I´m not talking about the pigeons in Trafalgar Square or even the thought of bumping into Boris Johnson.

It´s probably the thought of being conned by an overpriced coffee shop, upsettingly expensive Underground trips or rip-off restaurants.

Fear not! You can visit London without mortgaging your house, or even using your credit card. I myself love a good bargain and don´t like paying more than I need to.

Here are 5 Ways to Enjoy London for Less:

1. Get 2For1 Offers at London Attractions When You Go By Train

If you are visiting London for the day, don´t bother going by car as you will have to hunt and pay for overpriced parking, and pay the ever-increasing congestion charge if you drive into central London. Travelling by train is more convenient, better for the environment, and likely to be cheaper.

The added bonus is that National Rail is offering 2For1 entry to over 150 top London attractions, restaurants, theatres, exhibitions and more when you travel by train to the capital. This includes top London icons such as The Tower of London, London Dungeon and the London Eye.

2. Buy a travel card for the Underground

A single journey on the London Underground will set you back about £4.50 which is expensive enough. Things could certainly add up if you going to be making multiple journeys. In that case, make sure you buy a Travelcard as it will save you a lot of money!

If you buy the Travelcard in combination with your train ticket it is £8.90. That´s about the same as two trips, and everything after that is like travelling for free.

3. Stroll Around Taking Photos of World Famous Sites
As you undoubtedly already know, London is one of, if not the most famous city in the world. Millions of tourists visit every year for a reason.

If you stroll around with your camera or smartphone it´s possible to take some amazing photos of world-famous sites such as Tower Bridge, the London Eye, the Houses of Parliament, and Big Ben. Best of all, this is absolutely free!

4. Visit a Multitude of Museums Free of Charge

London is packed with things to see and do, and surprisingly more than you would expect is without a cost.

There are a wealth of great museums, that you can visit for free! This includes The Natural History Museum, The Science Museum, National Gallery, British Museum and Tate Modern.

5. You don't need to spend a fortune on food and drink
Eating and drinking out are some of the biggest expenses you could encounter on a visit to London. Don't head to the first place you find though, and don't accept overpriced cafes and restaurants in the tourist hot spots. I saw small cups of coffee for over £3 on a recent trip to London which seemed crazy!

In Hays Galleria, my girlfriend Yariza Martín Key and I found a fantastic cafe with a promotion that seemed almost too good to be true. Cinq cafe (www.cinqrestaurant.co.uk) is selling any coffee, any size for just 99p until the end of March. This even includes free flavoured syrups! The coffee was perfect, and there was service with a smile. I definitely recommend Cinq and shopping around.

I hope you enjoyed this blog post and can use these tips to save money on your visit to London. Of course, there are many other ways to look around London cheaply, but I didn't want you to get bored, and I didn't want to give everything away!
